Shane McGrogan goal sends Newbridge to their first senior final since 1991!

Newbridge 1-7

Magherafelt 1-4

A goal from Shane McGrogan sent Newbridge to their first county final since 1991 on Saturday night at Owenbeg.

It was a dramatic ending to a drab game with McGrogan beating goalkeeper Odhran Lynch to Conor Doherty’s ball dropped in around the house.

Magherafelt did have two attacks to save the game but it was the ‘Bridge to stood firm to book their final berth later this month.

After Conor McAteer kicked the game’s first score, Ryan Ferris hammered to the ‘Bridge net.

Magherafelt let 1-1 to 0-3 at half-time with the scoreline summing up the excitement levels.

They were always able to keep their noses in front until Oisin Doherty’s two points levelled matters, 0-7 to 1-4, with five minutes to play.

Conor Doherty escaped the watchful eyes of Eoin McEvoy to deliver the long ball McGrogan finished to the net to send the Newbridge fans into raptures.
