Two sisters have been granted bail at Derry Magistrate's Court today charged with assaults.

Simone Campbell (28) of Hillclose in Ballykelly and Cheyenne Campbell (19) of Mount Street in Derry appeared charged with assaults that were said to have occurred on April 6.

Cheyenne Campbell was charged with assault on a man on that date and assault on police.

Simone Campbell was charged with assaulting a man and a woman on the same date.

A police officer told the court that they were not opposing bail and said a bail breach had taken place when the defendants were found in Rockmills where they were prohibited from going.

The officer said police were not opposing bail with conditions.

Deputy District Judge John Read told the defendants that had come 'very close to being remanded in custody.'

He released them on bail on conditions they observe a curfew, wear a tag, don't enter Rockmills and abstain from alcohol.

They will appear again on May 13.
