A man who headbutted a glass panel on a door has been given a suspended sentence at Derry Magistrate's Court today.

Dylan Quayle (29) of Claremont House in Derry admitted a charge of criminal damage to the door on December 24.

The court heard that security noticed damage to a door panel that had not been there previously.

CCTV was examined and the defendant was identified as having an argument with another resident before headbutting the panel.

At interview Quayle made full admissions.

Defence solicitor Gareth Green said his client had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.

He said that he had 'consumed too much alcohol' on the day in question and after an argument had taken his 'frustration' out on the door.

Quayle was sentenced to three months in prison suspended 12 months and ordered to pay £230 in compensation.
