The late Adrian Mullan: tributes to a 'true gentleman'

Adrian Mullan was cycling on the Redcastle to Gleneely Road at around 9.15am on Saturday morning when he was struck by a van.
The 42-year-old father-of-three, from Amelia Court in the Steelstown area of Derry, died at the scene.
A second cyclist injured in the incident was taken hospital but his injuries were not life-threatening.
The driver of the van was not injured but was treated for shock.
Adrian (pictured) was a popular member of the Foyle Cycling Club and shocked club members are still struggling to cope to terms with his tragic death.
Club chairman Simon Gill described Adrian as a ‘true gentleman’.
He said everyone involved in the local cycling club were devastated at his death.
“As a long standing club member Adrian helped out many times at various events and was a very valued and trusted member of our team.
“The whole Foyle Cycling Club community is devastated and finding it extremely difficult to come to terms with this sad and senseless loss.
“The club sends its sincere condolences to his wife Patricia and children Gemma, Rachael and Joshua, wider family and friends,” said Simon, who added that all the club’s activities have been suspended in memory of Adrian.
The North Pole Cycling Club in Inishowen also cancelled a race in memory of the Derry man.
Adrian had taken part in a number of fundraising cycles for charity.
The latest of these was only last month when he was part of a group which cycled from London to Paris to raise money for the Foyle Hospice.
A spokesperson for the hospice last night said: “We are heartbroken to hear that our dear friend Adrian Mullan has sadly passed away. Adrian was a lovely, kind fella, a real gentleman. Our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends at this time.”
Adrian is survived by his wife Patricia, daughters Gemma and Rachel and son Joshua.
He is the son of Mary and the late Aiden Mullan and a brother of Thomas, Majella and the late Joseph.
