Three men have been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court charged with the murder of Karol Kelly (pictured) in the city last year.

Brothers Gary Anderson (21) and Sean Anderson (20), both with addresses in Grafton Street, and Michael Dunlop (18), with an address in Strabane, appeared at two separate preliminary enquiries at the local Magistrate's Court today.

Dunlop appeared first and was charged with the murder of Mr Kelly on 4 March.

He faced two further charges of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and committing an act with intent to pervert the course of justice by disposing of knives on the same date.

It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.

Dunlop said he did not wish to call any witnesses or make any statement "at this stage."

He was returned for trial to the Crown Court sitting in Laganside on 5 April and remanded in custody.

The Anderson brothers were charged with the murder of Mr Kelly.

When asked did they wish to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage Sean Anderson said "definitely not guilty" while Gary Anderson said "not at this stage."

Both were returned for trial to the Crown Court sitting in Laganside on 5 April and were remanded in custody.

Friends and relatives of both the defendants and the dead man's family were in court but there were no incidents.
