'Tis beginning to feel like Christmas with Derry's Festive Frolics

It will definitely feel like Christmas this weekend as the city hosts two days of fun for all the family, the first of this year's Festive Frolics.

The stars of Frozen, Christmas carollers and some special visitors from the North Pole will join colourful characters on the streets of the city this Saturday and Sunday.

Bridie’s Cottage in the Craft Village will the starting point for all the weekend’s seasonal fun featuring Elfin, Ella and Elvis, Santa’s mischievous helpers while Mrs Claus will be on hand to tell some magical Christmas tales.

The more creative will get the chance to learn to make origami Christmas trees and to write their name in Japanes as part Derry City Council’s Crafts Programme taking place in the Tower Museum.

Mayor of Derry, Councillor Brenda Stevenson, a wide arrange of activities for all ages would be available.

She said: “The Festive Frolics event is the perfect way to spend the afternoon and get into the Christmas spirit, with storytelling, children’s crafts, music and animation. It’s the ideal opportunity to take a break in between shopping, and treat the children to some festive entertainment.

“We have so much going on throughout the city in the build up to Christmas, with our Christmas Village at Ebrington Square, pantos, Santa’s grottos, not to mention Christmas concerts - Derry really offers a magical family Christmas experience.

The Festive Frolics will take place this Saturday and Sunday, December 6th and 7th, and Saturday and Sunday,  December 13th and 14th, running from 1pm – 5pm. Tickets cost £1, giving access to all the events, and can be purchased from the Tower Museum.
