The PSNI in Derry have said two people were arrested during a open air concert being staged in the city centre yesterday by the Salvation Army as part of its 135th anniversary celebrations.

Police said the two males were involved in “public disorder thereby disrupting” the late afternoon event being staged in The Diamond.

The pair were detained for a number of offences including disorderly behaviour and for assaulting a female police officer.

Prior to the concert, around 60 members of the Salvation Army, accompanied the Belfast Temple Band (pictured), paraded through the city from John Street to the Diamond.

The band also took part in an anniversary concert held last night in the Waterside Theatre which also featured the choir from Lisnagelvin Primary School and singer-songwriter Toni-Lee Moore.
