Ulster Special Constabulary Association to parade in Derry today

A group set up following the disbanding of the “B Specials” is to parade in Derry this afternoon.
The Ulster Special Constabulary Association will leave Glendermott Road in the Waterside at 2.30pm and make its way to Clooney Road along Bond Street, May Street and Limavady Road.
Following a church service, the parade will return along the same route.
Around 70 people, accompanied by the Churchill Flute Band, are expected to take part.
The British Government, on the recommendation of the Hunt committee on policing in Northern Ireland, disbanded the Ulster Special Constabulary, known as the “B Specials,” in 1970.
The report followed the involvement of the "B Specials" in the "Battle of the Bogside" (pictured above) in the summer of 1969.
