A Derry man charged with animal cruelty has had his case adjourned at Derry Magistrate's Court today.
Peter Toland (29) of Cornshell Fields has been charged with causing unnecessary suffering to an American Bull Terrier dog on March 15 this year.
He also faces four charges of failing to take reasonable steps to ensure animal welfare was met on the same date.
The case was due to be contested today but a prosecutor told the court that they now wished to call a vet to give evidence in the case.
An adjournment was sought to allow this to happen and the case was put back until September 30 for the contest to take place.
Toland is currently on bail.
