Views of public being sought on future development of Lough Foyle
The views of the public are being sought on the future development of outdoor recreation opportunities in and around Lough Foyle.
Outdoor Recreation Northern Ireland is carrying out a study of the area (from Downhilll, to Derry and River Foyle, and onwards to Malin Head) on behalf of Lough’s Agency to feed into their forthcoming Development Directorate Strategic Plan 2015 – 2020.
The plan will set out recommendations and actions for marine and coastal based recreation development in order to allow Lough Foyle (pictured above) to deliver improved opportunities for both tourists and the local community.
As part of this study, Outdoor Recreation Northern Ireland will be holding a public consultation event next week to discuss and capture a wide range of views on current and future outdoor recreation opportunities and facilities on and around this waterway.
“Engagement from the local community, businesses and organisations such as walking clubs and canoeing clubs will be key to the success of this project. I’m really keen to harness their enthusiasm and ideas in order to produce a report which has buy-in locally,” said Chris Scott, Outdoor Recreation Northern Ireland.
The consultation meeting will take place Loughs Agency Headquarters from 7pm – 8pm on Tuesday 10 February - .complimentary refreshments will be served from 6.45pm.
