Why was rapper M.I.A spotted in Packie Bonner's USA 94 jersey?

Popular English rapper M.I.A. confused many when she was photographed wearing what looked like an exact replica of Packie Bonner’s 1994 World Cup jersey.

She is performing at London's Meltdown festival this year and appeared in what looked like the goalkeeper jersey in a promotional appearance ahead of the event.

Packie Bonner appeared on RTÉ Radio 1 talking about his confusion when he spotted the picture, saying it could well be one of the many jerseys he's given away for charity.

"I've a couple in the house. But I've also given lots away to charity, it might be doing the rounds, so who knows? It might be my jersey," he said.

Unfortunately, it has now emerged that M.I.A's choice of clothing wasn't inspired by the Burtonport man.

There's no Irish logo, meaning that it is a generic goalkeeper top by Adidas popular with hipsters the world over at the moment.
