Woman given suspended sentence for theft of cosmetics from Derry chemist

Derry woman ordered to pay restitution alongside receiving a 12-month suspended prison sentence
A woman has appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court charged with stealing make-up from Bradley's Chemist.
Sam Marie McGinley (36) of Rosecourt in Derry was charged with stealing make-up worth £114.26 on June 30.
Police saw CCTV footage of McGinley taking the items and when police located it, it was deemed that it was not fit for resale.
Defence solicitor Keith Kyle said that McGinley had suffered a mental health crisis before the incident, but added that she had pleaded guilty and had a relevant record.
District Judge Suzanne Rice noted McGinley's ten previous theft convictions but gave her credit for making full admissions and for her guilty plea, ordering a restitution order and sentencing her to one month in custody, suspended for twelve months.
