A second, more modern post box is being relocated two doors down from its current location

An Post has responded to recent rumours that the heritage pillar-style postbox in Donegal Town is to be removed, saying there is no such plan in place.

The postbox is located on a footpath in the Diamond area, close to the where the post office was previously located. A second, more modern post box which sat beside it has been removed and is being relocated.

Angus Laverty of An Post told Donegal Live: "There are two postboxes there - the older heritage postbox, and a newer one.

"We are moving the newer one to a location two doors up from where it was, so it will be outside the Bank of Ireland.

"The heritage post box will stay where it is."
