Trevor Johnston will be officially launching his new books at The Breesy Centre, Cashelard
Ballintra native Trevor Johnston, who can trace his ancestry in the area back to the 17th century, is launching two new books this November.
The official launch of both books takes place on Friday, November 6, at The Breesy Centre, Cashelard, starting at 7.30 pm, with music from Brian Curristin and Friends and the Junior Rockhill Ramblers.
Since 2018, Trevor has lived in the West Midlands in England with his wife Anne, whose late father, PJ McGrory, was a native of Tievebrack.
A former Naomh Bríd player, Trevor has been deeply involved with Donegal Town Rugby Club since its inception in 1973, and is fondly remembered for the rugby columns he wrote in the Donegal Democrat for over twenty years under the pseudonym "The Rucker".
For the past eight years, Trevor has run the hugely popular Facebook page The Bay Bush and Beyond, which explores the history and culture of Drumhome and the surrounding area. His new book, Drumhome - An Open Door, follows on naturally from the page as Trevor strolls around the district. It is packed with historical facts and enlivened by plenty of amusing anecdotes.
Trevor, who says his first love has always been poetry, is also launching The Ballintra Bard, a collection of his poems.
He will be signing copies of both books in The Bay Bush Bar on Wednesday 4 and Thursday, November 5, 3 pm to 6 pm.
Drumhome - An Open Door costs €18, and The Ballintra Bard costs €10.
Everyone is welcome to call in, meet Trevor, and reminisce.
