Bishop of Raphoe Alan McGuckian today visited this unique exhibition at the An Grianan theatre café in Letterkenny.

Renowned Jewish-Israeli artist Zohar has produced these paintings as his personal and heartfelt response to the sufferings of the Palestinian people.

Bishop McGuckian, the lead Irish Bishop on Palestine, has just returned from a fact-finding mission in May to the Holy Land with other European Bishops.

The European Bishop’s official statement mentioned the occupation and injustice, the violence and intimidation, and the daily violations of fundamental human rights of the non-Jewish population of the Holy Land.

“We experienced the deep sorrow and anger felt by local Christians at the killing of Palestinian Catholic journalist Shireen Abu Akleh and the shameful attack on mourners at her funeral.” Jewish State police baton-charged the funeral, causing the mourners to drop her coffin, and event that went viral on social media.

This peace-building, cross-border, cross-community, interfaith, bilingual exhibition plans to visit all 32 counties.

The exhibition is on display till the end of June when it moves to Ards Friary for the Summer months.
