Briney’s Bar donates €9,000 to St Columbcille Village care home in Clonmany
'Donations like this help keep our doors open - we will ensure the funds are used in a way that brings real benefit to our residents'
St Columbcille Village has expressed heartfelt gratitude after receiving a generous donation of €9,000 from Briney’s Bar in Clonmany, raised through a recent 'Queen of Hearts' fundraising event.
Aaron Harkin, Danny Grant, and Seamus Doherty presented the cheque on behalf of Briney’s Bar to staff at the facility, who described the gesture as overwhelming and deeply appreciated.
“We simply can’t thank them enough,” a spokesperson said. “We are always grateful to anyone who undertakes fundraising on our behalf, but this donation is particularly touching given the current economic pressures facing so many businesses.”
St Columbcille Village provides a day centre, sheltered housing and high support unit on a beautiful site on the outskirts of Clonmany. The day centre opened in 1992, and there were 21st anniversary celebrations recently marking the 21st anniversary of the official opening of the High Support Unit which allows people with particular medical needs to remain in their local community rather than moving into a nursing home elsewhere.
The substantial contribution from Briney's Bar will go directly towards supporting resident care, helping the facility continue to deliver the highest possible standards of support.
Staff also extended their thanks to the event organisers, local businesses who assisted by selling tickets, and every member of the community who contributed.
“Donations like this help keep our doors open,” the spokesperson added. “It’s moments like these that remind us just how lucky we are to be part of such a supportive and thoughtful community. We will ensure the funds are used in a way that brings real benefit to our residents.”
