Bundoran will take centre stage as Ireland hosts the European Junior Surfing Championships for the first time, bringing together some of the best young surfers from across Europe.
The prestigious Euro Surf Junior 2026 championships will provide an opportunity to showcase Bundoran and the wider Donegal coast on the international stage, with athletes competing for European titles over 10 days of competition.
The official opening ceremony will begin with a Parade of Nations through Bundoran at 4.30 pm on Saturday. The parade will travel along Main Street before turning onto Promenade Road and finishing at The Peak.
Official opening speeches and addresses will take place at The Peak podium, adjacent to Carraig na nÉan and Waterworld Bundoran, from 5 pm.
The ceremony will also feature the ceremonial pouring of sands, bringing together sands from the participating nations, before Euro Surf Junior 2026 is formally declared open.
Irish Surfing chairperson Tim Ferguson said the organisation would be delighted to welcome the public to the special occasion and celebrate the athletes, teams, volunteers, partners and community members who have helped make the championships possible.
The championships are being seen as a significant moment for Irish surfing and will put Bundoran and the Donegal coastline in the international spotlight.
