Cara House Family Resource Centre is proud to celebrate Men’s Health Week 2025, taking place from Monday, June 9, to Sunday, June 15.

This year’s national theme, Shoulder to Shoulder, Connecting for Health, highlights the importance of connection and peer support in promoting men’s physical and mental well-being.

Throughout the week, Cara House will host a series of inclusive, health-focused events, welcoming men from all walks of life to come together, talk openly, and take positive steps toward better health.

On Monday, the community gathered to celebrate International Men’s Day with a warm and welcoming coffee morning. From 11am to 1pm, attendees enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere, sipping coffee while receiving free blood pressure checks and listening to an insightful talk from HSE Mental Health Services, promoting wellness and open conversation.

The following day, Tuesday, energy and camaraderie filled the air at the Letterkenny Community Centre. At 2pm, Walking Football kicked off, led by Bill Vaughan, a Cara House board member. The event, held in partnership with the Donegal Men’s Health Forum, offered a fun and friendly way for men to stay active while connecting with others in the community.

On Wednesday, the pace slowed for a peaceful excursion. A group set off on a bus trip to the serene IOSAS Gardens and Sanctuary in Muff. For just €5, participants enjoyed a guided tour through one of Donegal’s most tranquil settings, reflecting, relaxing, and enjoying the beauty of nature together.

“We are delighted to be part of this important national initiative,” said Martina McGinty, Manager of Cara House. “Men’s Health Week is a valuable opportunity to open up conversations around men’s health – mental, physical, and emotional – and to create a supportive community where men feel seen, heard, and connected.”

Cara House warmly invites men of all ages to take part, bring a friend, and be part of this positive and welcoming week of events. All sessions are free of charge unless otherwise noted.

Located in the heart of Letterkenny, Cara House is a vibrant community hub offering a wide range of support services, classes, and outreach programmes across Donegal. The centre is committed to fostering inclusion, resilience, and well-being for individuals and families alike.
