Charitable donation sought from man caught with cocaine and cannabis in Letterkenny

At Letterkenny District Court, Judge Emile Daly said she would deal with the matter by way of a charitable donation, but warned it 'will be high given the drug involved'
A man caught with cocaine and cannabis in Letterkenny has been told to make a charitable contribution in lieu of a criminal conviction.
Kasper Klos pleaded guilty to having the drugs when gardai carried out a search of his home on September 27, 2025.
Klos, a 26-year-old of Cashel Park, Letterkenny, was before Letterkenny District Court.
His solicitor, Mr Frank Dorrian, said his client was tendering a guilty plea in respect of two charges, namely being in possession of cocaine and being in possession of cannabis.
The court heard that the cocaine was valued at €210 and the cannabis was worth €50.
Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that the drugs were found when officers searched the property under section 26 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Klos made admissions that the drugs were his and for his own use, Sergeant Collins said.
“He was unusually cooperative and reasonable,” Mr Dorrian said. “He is in his 20s and has difficulties with his life.”
Mr Dorrian said that Klos is unemployed and is caring for a relative who is unwell.
Judge Emile Daly said she would deal with the matter by way of a charitable donation, but warned it “will be high given the drug involved.”
For being in possession of cocaine, Klos was ordered to make a €500 donation while a €150 donation was sought in respect of the cannabis. The donations are payable to Donegal Hospice and Judge Daly set a default order of criminal convictions and fines of €600 and €250 if the donation is not paid.
