The collapse of Tickets.ie, which left the Festival reporting €283,151.50 in unpaid ticket proceeds, had put the future of the popular Ballyshannon event in doubt before a massive fundraising drive

The Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival has confirmed its 2027 staging.

The festival last month said it is seeking support from European Union institutions for stronger protections for ticket revenue following the collapse of Tickets.ie, which left the Festival reporting €283,151.50 in unpaid ticket proceeds.

However, while that process remains ongoing, organisers will plan for the 2027 event in Ballyshannon, which is due to run from Thursday, June 3, to Saturday 6. A GoFundMe titled Calling Card - Future of Rory Gallagher Tribute Festival has now raised over €100,000.

“his is a hugely significant moment for our festival, our town and Rory Gallagher fans worldwide,” the Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival posted, having announced its continuation at the National Stadium in Dublin at a fundraiser.

“After one of the most challenging periods in our history, the Rory Gallagher Festival is ready to bring the music back for a 23rd year.

“To everyone who stood by us, supported our fundraising campaign, sent messages of encouragement and refused to let the festival's future disappear - thank you. Your support has been incredible.

“Our legal challenge continues as we pursue accountability and the substantial ticket revenues owed to our festival following the collapse of the ticketing company owned by the Deutsche Entertainment Group - DEAG (Germany) and My Tickets Services Ltd (UK).

“We are also pursuing our petition to the European Union seeking stronger protections for ticket revenues across the live entertainment industry.

“We are incredibly proud of ourselves, our supporters and the loyal worldwide Rory Gallagher Festival followers. See you all in Ballyshannon.”

The Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival is an annual celebration of the music and legacy of Irish blues-rock guitarist Rory Gallagher in his birthplace of Ballyshannon. Organised by a voluntary committee, it brings musicians and fans together to celebrate his enduring influence on blues and rock music.
