Digging Deep: Moville Men’s Shed plans new Community Garden for town

Men’s Shed and Tidy Towns are inviting locals to roll up their sleeves and help create a new community green space
A new community garden project is being launched in Moville, with local residents being invited to get involved in the creation of a new green space for the town.
The project is being developed by Moville Men’s Shed in conjunction with Moville Tidy Towns, and will be located on a small greenfield site to the rear of the Men’s Shed Malin Road premises.
The proposed garden will be situated behind a number of existing polytunnels which are already used for growing vegetables, and will form the first phase of a wider development of the Men’s Shed site.
“This marks the exciting first step in our overall site development,” a spokesperson for Moville Men’s Shed said.
Funding has also been secured for the construction of a new perimeter wall, which will run alongside the road as part of the project.
Members of the community are now being encouraged to get involved ahead of work getting officially underway.
The organisers are hoping that local people will come together to help create a welcoming and attractive garden area which can be enjoyed by the wider community.
Whether people have a passion for gardening, are handy with tools, or simply want to lend a hand while meeting new people, everyone is welcome to take part.
Anyone interested in getting involved can contact Mickey Byrne on 087 9250431 via WhatsApp, email [email protected], or call into the Men’s Shed and speak with a member.
The project is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
