Donegal Bay Cycling Club delighted to host Ulster Women’s Time Trial Event

Event to take place on July 10, and is the fifth round of the cycling series
A Donegal Bay Cycling Club representative said they were delighted to host a round of the Ulster Cycling Time Trial Women’s League.
The event starts at 7pm on July 10, and will be the fifth round of a seven-round series. Events have already taken place in Newtownards, Belfast, Maghera, and Banbridge, with further events in Coalisland and Ballymena.
Parking will be available for the event at Donegal Service Station, with the start line on the Donegal bypass near Lidl.
Stephen Travers told Donegal Live: “We are delighted to have it. It means a lot to us to host an event like this. We are not strangers to hosting an event like this because last September, we hosted the Ulster 25-Mile Championships.
“We are going to run in conjunction with our own time trial event.”
Explaining the event, Stephen said: “The time trial is a 16km, or 10-mile out-and-back route. We start 8km outside town at the Ballybofey Road, go into town, around the roundabout, and back to the finish.
“At a time trial, you have to pace yourself. You can not go flat out at the start. You feel everything at the finish, so it is a tough test.
“The fastest would probably be around 19 minutes, and the slowest 32 minutes. We start at 7pm, and each competitor goes a minute apart.
“If we have 30 participants, the last person would be going at 7.31pm. The last person would be back at around 8pm.”
