Donegal Community Hospital closed to admissions due to Covid-19 outbreak

Visiting restrictions are in place due to what the HSE has called ‘a small number of Covid-19 cases’ at the hospital in Donegal Town
Donegal Community Hospital is closed to admissions and visiting restrictions are in place due to an outbreak of Covid-19.
The Health Service Executive (HSE) said on Friday that there is “a small number of Covid-19 cases” at the hospital in Donegal Town.
Following a query from Donegal Live, the HSE said the hospital is closed to admissions with restricted visiting in place.
“There will be exceptions in special situations, for example, if someone is coming to the end of their life. Services at the hospital are continuing for residents,” the HSE said in a statement.
According to the Health Information and Quality Authority (Hiqa), the hospital is a 29-bed unit which provides palliative care, respite care, convalescence, rehabilitation and continuing care.
Accommodation at the hospital includes single bedrooms and multiple-occupancy bedrooms as well as sitting rooms and a dining room.
