Road policing units across Donegal have been out on the roads conducting speed checks.

An Garda Síochána conducts several high-profile National Slow Down Days each year. The most recent speeds of 79KPH in a 60KPH Zone in Bundoran, 104KPH in an 80KPH Zone in St Johnston and 116KPH in an 80KPH zone in St Johnston were detected.

“This initiative aims to promote safer driving and reduce speed-related collisions nationwide, coinciding with the first full week of schools reopening across the country,” An Garda Síochána Donegal said. “We continue to urge all drivers to slow down and to be mindful of the speed at which they are travelling at all times. Always be particularly vigilant in built-up areas and areas in which schools are situated. “
