Donegal Mary's Meals fundraising day in Glenties

A special collection day will take place at the Gala Service Station on Friday, July 17, from 9am until 5pm
Donegal Mary's Meals is appealing to the public to donate old coins and banknotes, including punts, euros, sterling and foreign currency, to help provide meals for children in some of the world's poorest communities.
The charity, which currently provides school meals to more than 3 million children every school day, says even forgotten or unused currency can make a significant difference to its work. Supporters are being encouraged to search through drawers, piggy banks, holiday souvenirs and old collections for any coins or notes they no longer need.
According to Mary's Meals, it costs just €22 to provide one child with a daily meal in school for an entire year, with the charity highlighting the life-changing impact that a simple meal can have in encouraging children to attend school and receive an education.
A special collection day will take place at the Gala Service Station in Glenties on Friday, July 17, from 9am until 5pm. Organisers have stressed that there is no need for donations to be counted in advance, making it as easy as possible for people to contribute.
For those unable to attend on the day, collections of coins and notes can also be arranged by contacting Fr Eamonn Kelly on 087 9077985, Alfie Green on 087 6779602, or Eilis Conneely on 087 7060457.
Organisers are hoping the Donegal community will once again show its generosity by supporting the appeal, with every donation helping Mary's Meals continue its mission of feeding children in a place of education around the world.
