Data revealed in Government's report entitled The First Five Years In Ireland - Update 2026
Donegal is the third-highest local authority in the amount of parent-toddler grants granted, according to a report published by the Government.
The Department of Children, Disability and Equality released a report entitled ‘The First Five Years In Ireland - Update 2026,’ in which the number of parent-toddler grants that were granted to each local authority was detailed.
Donegal received 28 parent-toddler grants in 2025, up from 25 the previous year. Cork County had the highest amount of parent-toddler grants received in 2025, with 41, followed by Limerick County with 31.
Other local authorities to receive a high amount of parent-toddler grants include Dublin City, Galway, Mayo and Meath.
A Parent & Toddler grant is administered to non-profit Parent & Toddler groups by Pobal and local County Childcare Committees (CCCs).
The funding can be used for expenses, including play and educational equipment (e.g. toys and books); activities for the children (e.g. arts and crafts, music); and training for parents (e.g. paediatric first aid, committee skills, parenting courses).
