Lifford native Jason Laverty was introduced at Monday's sitting of Letterkenny District Court

Donegal's newest solicitor was welcomed at Letterkenny District Court on Monday.

Lifford man Jason Laverty was introduced by experienced Letterkenny solcitor Mr Kieran O'Gorman.

Mr Laverty is working with Browne & Company Solicitors in Letterkenny.

Mr. Laverty was educated in Lifford National School, then at Finn Valley College in Stranorlar before undertaking his Degree in ATU Letterkenny.

“The course he started is a very good hybrid professional practising course,” Mr O'Gorman said. “It is a great pleasure to introduce him to the court. He will be given nothing but help.”

Mr. O’Gorman remarked great pleasure at introducing a local man to the profession, which in recent years has become dominated by female practitioners.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham welcomed Mr Laverty to the court.

“It's a lovely day for the court when new solicitors are introduced,” Judge Cunningham said. “Sincere congratulations and if the court can provide any assistance, it will do so.”

Sergeant Jim Collins extended a warm welcome to Mr Laverty, who he said was working with a 'very good firm' that would provide him with 'good guidance'.

Mr Laverty said it was fitting that Mr O'Gorman had introduced him to the court having done so for Ms Browne in 2000.

“I went to Browne & Company for my work experience and I am still there,” Mr Laverty said. “I completed my training there and they kept me on. I am delighted and I can't wait to practice in Donegal.”
