A driver in Letterkenny was clocked doing 130kph in the wintery conditions - and then tested positive for cannabis.

"Gardaí from Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit detected a car being driven at 130KPH today in a speed zone of 100KPH," An Garda Siochana posted. "Keep in mind that the roads are in a treacherous condition! The car was stopped and the driver tested positive for cannabis. An arrest was made.

"We regularly come across drivers who have a blatant disregard for road safety and for the law. To them we say ... please stop and think. One poor decision could end someone's life. It could end your own life. Think of the devastation that would follow.

Would that poor decision have been worth it?"
