The Dublin to Drimarone Charity Cycle 2023 was launched at the Bluestack Centre Drimarone on Wednesday 17th of May. There was a 5K cycle held on the evening as part of Bike Week in conjuction with Donegal Sports Partnership. The Charity Cycle takes place on the 18th-20th of August. 70 cyclists will take part this year. They will be raising funds for the Oncology Unit at Letterkenny University Hospital with contributions also being made to Letterbarrow Celtic FC and Drimarone Development Association. A talk was also given on the evening by John Grant, The Bike Mobile on bicycle maintenance. Chairman, Fergus McGroary thanked all those who attended and also gave a special welcome to Mary McGinty as this year's cycle is being done in memory of Seamus McGinty who passed away in 2021 after a short illness. Seamus was a big part of this cycle when this group previously undertook this event in 2015 and 2018. Fergus also thanked sponsors Martin Kelly from Kelly's Toyota, Anthony and Deirdre Byrne, John Hegarty from Sean Hegarty and Sons Transport and Gavin Curran Travel for their support of the event. Denis O'Gorman spoke on behalf of Letterbarrow Celtic FC and Deirdre Meehan spoke on behalf of Drimarone Development Association and they outlined where the funds will be used. Fergus thanked local photographer Siobhan McGowan and Peter Campbell for being present for the launch and all those who have signed up to take part and reminded them that they have three months to get fit.Off the cyclists go in the 5k which coincided with the launch
