The Seeger Sessions Revival is set to make popular returns to Kilcar and Ballyshannon

A 13-piece ensemble, the Seeger Sessions Revival has been delighting audiences near and far with their homage to Bruce Springsteen’s Seeger Sessions album.

Having previously gone down very well, the ensemble is returning later this month to play the Abbey Arts Centre as part of the 49th Ballyshannon Folk and Traditional Music Festival. The Seeger Sessions Revival takes to the stage on Thursday, July 30 at 8pm.

A spokesperson for the Abbey Arts Centre said: “After their sell-out show three years ago, we are delighted to bring you back the Seeger Sessions Revival in Ballyshannon.

“The Seeger Sessions Revival is a dynamic 13-piece ensemble dedicated to capturing the spirit, energy, and musical brilliance of Bruce Springsteen’s Seeger Sessions album and live performances - an album that paid homage to the legendary Pete Seeger and his profound influence on American folk music.”

The Abbey Arts Centre appearance will follow another return date, an appearance in Áislann Cill Chartha on Wednesday, July 29, also at 8pm. The band have played the Áislann on a number of occasions, having previously kicked off their tour to great acclaim in the Kilcar venue.

This time around, they play as part of Fleadh Cheoil Chill Chartha where the audience can look forward to enjoying the energy and musical exuberance that was Bruce Springsteen’s Seeger Sessions album and live shows.

This diverse group of talented musicians deliver a high energy two-hour celebration with hits including Old Dan Tucker, Jesse James and American Land to name just a few.

Made up of fiddle, banjo, accordion, steel guitar, whistle, a thumping rhythm section, a superb virtuosic four-piece brass section and strong group vocal harmonies. Sit back and enjoy an evening of traditional American folk songs consisting of a jambalaya of bluegrass, folk, country, Dixieland, gospel, rock ‘n’ roll and rhythm & blues.
