Flooding Update: Public warned of hidden dangers of driving in flood water

Donegal County Council is appealing to people to avoid unnecessary journeys
As rain continues to fall relentlessly across Donegal, motorists have been asked to avoid unnecessary journeys.
They are also being warned of the dangers of driving through flood water.
A spokesperson for Donegal County Council said: ”Substantial flooding has occurred in a number of areas in the county, particularly in Raphoe and the Finn Valley.
"The public are advised not to enter flood waters due the risk of unseen dangers such as damaged bridges and culverts.
”The public are also advised to avoid any unnecessary journeys at this time."
A number of homes and businesses in Raphoe and Castlefinn have been flooded, and Castlefinn was described by a person who contacted Donegal Live as 'practically impassable'.
