Popular well-known singer has penned a song in conjunction with the recent Dublin to Drimarone Charity Cycle with all proceeds from the CD going to the charities

A CD single featuring the very popular song 'The Shortest Road to Drimarone' is being launched this week, and will be on sale in local outlets throughout south Donegal.

Penned by Folksy Gerry, following the recently successful sponsored charity cycle from Dublin to Drimarone, the song has become hugely popular at all gigs and gatherings. The song has a special focus on Gerry's cousin Seamus McGinty, who died within the last two years and who has been a very dedicated helper and supporter of the charity cycle in the past.

A special word of thanks to Jim Corbett at Newtown Studios, who recorded and produced the CD along with his very talented studio musicians Rose McCann, Seamus O'Reilly and Aoife Conway, who all donated their time free of charge. Gerry is also joined on vocals by Alan McGroary and Conan Bonar, who were both also part of the cycle team.

Having already raised in excess of €62,000 from the cycle, the committee are hoping to add another bit through the sale of this CD. The launch will take place at the cheque presentation which takes place in the Bluestack Centre, Drimarone this Saturday night at 8 pm.

All proceeds from the sale of the CD will go to the Patients Comfort Fund at the Oncology Unit at Letterkenny Hospital.
