Belmont House to become a single residential dwelling

A former gift and jewellery shop in Bundoran is to be converted into residential accommodation after Donegal County Council granted planning permission for the proposal.

Listed applicant, Jacinta Hegarty, received planning permission from the local Planning Authority to change the use of Belmont House, Main Street, Bundoran, from the existing two retail units with residential accommodation, over to a single-dwelling house to include modifications to the front and rear elevation, and all associated site works.

Belmont House has most recently been the home of Ruth’s Gifts and Jewellery.

Donegal County Council granted permission for the project with nine conditions, including a condition that the dwelling “shall be used as for long-term rental or as a permanent house only and shall not be used for the purposes of a holiday home or as short-term rental accommodation.”
