Gardai are investigating an incident in which a man fell from a moving vehicle in Ballyshannon earlier this week.

The Garda Ombudsman is involved in the prob into the incident, which occurred one Tuesday, September 30.

The man was found with injuries following a fall from a moving vehicle on Bachelor’s Walk in Ballyshannon.

It is believed that Gardai had interacted with the man some time earlier and the vehicle in question was seized.

According to sources, the vehicle was being transported to Ballyshannon Garda Station on the back of a recovery truck.

The man in question is said to have been still in the impounded vehicle and sustained what was described as a “serious head injury”.

A number of members of the public were also in the vicinity of the incident.

He was later taken to Sligo University Hospital for treatment and his current condition is not known.

A Garda spokesperson told Donegal Live: “This matter has been referred by An Garda Síochána to Fiosrú under Section 203 of the Security and Policing Security & Community Safety Act 2024 due to an earlier interaction between Gardaí investigating a roads policing matter and the occupants of a car that the male may have been in.

“An Garda Síochána does not comment on incidents that have been referred to Fiosrú for its consideration.”

Donegal Live has contacted Fiosrú for a response.
