Gofundme page has raised almost €1,500 to light up Greencastle this Christmas
The target has almost been reached as the community gets behind the initiative
The community of Greencastle at home and abroad has really got behind a fundraiser that will make a big difference to the village this Christmas.
A GoFundMe page has been set up with a target of €1,500 for a Christmas tree in Greencastle. To date, just over €1,400 has been raised.
The fundraising team of Mary McClenaghan and Seamus Bovaird said: "Hi everyone, that time of year again to brighten our wee village.
"We know it's a tough winter for everyone, so any donation is greatly appreciated."

The tree light-up is scheduled for December 11.
