How healthy is the Bredagh River? Donegal residents invited to test the water

Participants will explore the Bredagh River and carry out hands-on water quality testing at locations along its course.
Inishowen residents are being invited to take part in a special Bredagh River Water Chemistry Day from 11am to 5pm today, Saturday, September 19, at Glencrow Hall in Moville.
The event will offer participants an opportunity to explore the Bredagh River, learn about freshwater ecosystems and gain practical experience in monitoring water quality.
The day will begin with a visit to the upper Bredagh in the peatlands, before participants make their way downstream along the river towards Moville town.
During the afternoon, participants will use Water Chemistry Kit Bags to test water quality at different locations. Attendees will also learn how to use a range of monitoring equipment and record environmental data as part of a hands-on citizen science activity.
Organisers say the event is suitable for everyone, with no previous experience required. It provides an opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to get outdoors, explore the river and develop a greater understanding of the importance of healthy freshwater environments.
The event is being supported by the River Basin Management Service (Seirbhís Bainistíochta Abhantraí) and the Inishowen Rivers Trust.
Places for the Bredagh River Water Chemistry Day can be reserved through Eventbrite, with anyone interested in learning more about local water quality and freshwater ecosystems encouraged to take part.
