Parking along the narrow road to Shrove Beach has led to Foyle Coaches announcing that they will be suspending the (953) and (957) Local Link services until at least 7pm this evening

Not for the first time this summer or even this week, abandoned vehicles have forced the suspension of a local bus service in Shroove until later this evening.

Parking along the narrow road to Shrove Beach has led to Foyle Coaches announcing that they will be suspending the Greencastle to Letterkenny (953) and the Greencastle to Derry (957) Local Link services until at least 7pm this evening (Saturday) as a result.

Only yesterday, in anticipation of huge crowds flocking to Shroove beach and the Greencastle Regatta with the good weather, Donegal County Council appealed to visitors not to illegally park so that the road would remain clear for public transport and emergency service vehicles.

However, despite the council requesting that An Garda Síochána help keep the access road clear, this afternoon access to the beach had again become completely blocked with cars parking on both sides of the road – leading to the temporary cancellation of the local bus service once again.

This is the second time this week that Foyle Coaches have cancelled services, as last Wednesday services were suspended for the day early in the afternoon due to vehicles blocking their path, forcing the bus company to divert services away from Shroove.
