Glebe National School, in Donegal Town, hosted a gathering to celebrate two milestones

Glebe National School gathered pupils, staff, parents, and invited guests to celebrate the retirement of Principal Ms Alison Pasquier and the official opening of the school's new classroom.

The celebration took place on Friday, October 23, with a wonderful turnout for the occasion as the community gathered together to mark two significant milestones in the school's history.

The celebrations were organised by incoming Principal Ms Emma O'Flaherty, who also welcomed guests and led proceedings throughout the morning.

Among the special guests were the Right Reverend Andrew Forster, Bishop of Derry and Raphoe, and Archdeacon David Huss, who both addressed those gathered, paying tribute to Ms Pasquier and recognising the importance of the new classroom for the future of the school.

The children played a central role in the celebrations, delighting everyone with their beautiful singing and making the occasion all the more memorable.

The occasion was particularly meaningful as the development of the new classroom had been one of Ms Pasquier's major projects during her time as Principal. Her determination and hard work in bringing the project to completion have left a lasting legacy for the school and its pupils.

Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed tea and refreshments in the new classroom, generously provided by the school's wonderful Parent Teacher Association.

Ms Pasquier has been a much-loved and respected member of staff for over three decades. Throughout her years of teaching and leadership, she has made an enormous contribution to school life, touching the lives of generations of pupils and families.

The celebrations provided a fitting opportunity to recognise her dedication, kindness and commitment to the school, while also looking forward to an exciting new chapter for Glebe NS under the leadership of Ms O'Flaherty.

Glebe National School extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, contributed to the celebrations and helped make the day such a memorable occasion.
