EnCór Tír Chonaill delighted its Donegal Town audience with a concert in the St John Bosco Centre. And as an added bonus, they were joined by special guests Onóir with whom the choir has close links.
EnCór Tír Chonaill is a community choir that focuses on contemporary songs while being ever mindful of the emotional benefits of singing.
A spokesperson said: We began in March 2022, spearheaded by Dean Connaghan, Farrah Bogle Mulaney and Sinéad O'Donnell-Carey.
“Singing works wonders for mental health and well being. With everything going on in the world, we come to practice to leave all our stresses at the door and sing for two hours.
“It’s such a rewarding social event every week for over 40 members.”
The Christmas Concert was a fundraiser which took place to help meet the costs of running the choir and to keep it accessible to everyone.
“The cost of running the choir can be high so we greatly appreciate our funders and everyone for supporting this fundraiser too,” said the spokesperson.
“Our singing tutor Dean is part of the popular band, Onóir so they kindly offered to perform as our special guests fresh from their national tour. It was a privilege to share the stage with Donegal's finest talent!”
And for anyone looking to get involved, EnCór has this message:
“We are always open to new members and don't turn away anyone. We practice every Tuesday 7.30 to 9.30pm throughout the year, and stop for any school holidays.”
Choir costs €5 per week and includes tea and refreshments. Anyone who wishes to join is asked to please email [email protected] for more information.
The members would also greatly appreciate your likes and follows on Facebook and on Instagram.
