Students and staff at St Eunan’s College have gathered to honour and remember their colleague and friend Ollie Horgan to mark the first anniversary of his passing.
A special beginning of year and anniversary Mass was celebrated for all school staff, past and present. During the Mass, Fr Damien Nejad reflected on Ollie's life, legacy, and the lasting impact he left on the school community.
The college was deeply honoured to be joined by Ollie’s family—his wife Anita and his sons Anthony, Brendan, Conor, and David, while his daughter Emma was unable to attend, she was remembered in prayer.
A spokesperson for the school said it was a moving occasion made all the more special by the presence of several past staff members who returned to St Eunan’s to pay their respects and share in remembering a dear friend.
“On this poignant day, our deepest thoughts and prayers continue to be with Anita, Emma, Anthony, Brendan, Conor, David, and the extended Horgan family.”
Following the Mass, the College Chaplain, Fr Damien, led the gathering outside to officially bless a new memorial seated area on the school grounds.
This peaceful space features three dedicated seats, serving as a permanent tribute to those who have passed away.
One seat is dedicated to Ollie Horgan, honouring his life, service, and memory while a seat is dedicated to past students of St Eunan’s College.
Tadhg Callaghan Carter and Callum Friel were remembered during both services, along with all other past students who have left this world.
A seat is also dedicated to past staff members who contributed so much to our school over the years.
Antoin Coll was remembered during this blessing. The memorial bench stands as a place of quiet reflection for students and staff alike for generations to come.
