Residents and visitors across Inishowen are being encouraged to get on their bikes this May as Bike Week 2026 rolls into the peninsula from 9th to 17th May.
Supported by Active Inishowen and Inishowen Bike Hire, the week-long celebration promises a mix of accessible, fun, and completely free cycling activities for all ages and abilities.
At the heart of the programme are Free eBike Guided Cycles, offering participants a unique chance to explore the stunning landscapes of Inishowen with ease.
A total of eight guided events will take place at locations across the peninsula, with eBikes provided for those taking part. The initiative is designed to make cycling more inclusive, allowing beginners and experienced riders alike to enjoy the outdoors without the strain of traditional cycling.
However, due to high demand, advance booking is essential, with places strictly limited. Participants who secure a spot will receive confirmation details and further information ahead of their scheduled cycle.
In addition to the guided tours, bikers can take advantage of Free Bike Maintenance sessions, aimed at helping cyclists get their own bikes road-ready for the summer season. These drop-in events require no booking, making them an easy and practical option for anyone looking to tune up their wheels.
Maintenance clinics will take place in Moville on May 10th, Muff on May 13th, Buncrana on May 16th, and Carndonagh on May 17th.
Organisers are reminding participants that while all events are free, commitment to attendance is important. Anyone unable to attend after booking is asked to notify organisers in advance so that spaces can be offered to others.
Bike Week across Ireland continues to grow as a flagship initiative promoting healthier lifestyles, sustainable transport, and community engagement. With scenic routes, expert guidance, and strong local support, this year’s programme in Inishowen is expected to draw significant interest.
