Inishowen woman Edelle McDaid leaves Traitors viewers guessing

“All my dreams come true! Yes, I’m on the Traitors”
An Inishowen woman was one of the most prominent contestants as The Traitors Ireland returned to RTÉ on Sunday night – but viewers will have to wait until Monday to discover whether Edelle McDaid is a Faithful or a Traitor.
Edelle, 44, a mum and Software Operations Lead from Culdaff, found herself at the centre of the action in the opening episode of Series 2, which ended on a dramatic cliffhanger.
She was among the contestants in the running to be named as the mystery fourth Traitor, leaving viewers guessing about her true role in the game.
Whether Edelle has been recruited into the secretive Traitors’ camp or remains one of the Faithfuls will be revealed when the second episode airs on Monday night.
Edelle, who works with Cora Systems in Leitrim, is a former pupil of Carndonagh Community School.
She confirmed her participation in the hit RTÉ series on social media, posting: “All my dreams come true. Yes, I’m on The Traitors.”
The 23 contestants entered the imposing Slane Castle for a game of strategy, deception and trust, with each hoping to outwit their fellow players and walk away with the prize.
RTÉ described the new series as featuring “new faces, fresh alliances and new strategies”, asking viewers to consider who would keep their cool, earn trust and fall victim to betrayal.
Edelle’s appearance has already generated a huge reaction in Inishowen, with friends, family and local viewers taking to social media to congratulate her and express their excitement at seeing a familiar face on the programme.
Comments included “No better woman”, “you’ll be brilliant”, “so proud, Edelle” and “best of luck”, while others admitted they were stunned to see her appear on screen. One viewer joked that their mother had immediately phoned to say that if it wasn’t Edelle on the programme, it must have been her twin.
There was also plenty of excitement about the entertainment to come, with one commenter predicting there would be “viral clips” featuring Edelle, while others said they had immediately started watching the show or were now trying to figure out how to watch it. Several described the development as “unbelievable”, “amazing” and “unreal”.
Edelle follows in the footsteps of Letterkenny’s Kelley Higgins, who was among the winning Faithfuls in the first series of The Traitors Ireland.
The question now hanging over Inishowen is whether Edelle will be a Faithful or a Traitor!
