Three of Inishowen’s best-known sporting clubs are set to come together in a unique celebration of sport and community spirit later this month as they take to the field for the rescheduled Inishowen TriSport Tournament in aid of men’s mental health awareness.

The special fundraising event, which was originally scheduled to take place during Men’s Mental Health Week in June but had to be postponed, will now be held on Friday, July 24, at 6.30pm at Inishowen Rugby Club on Moss Road, Carndonagh.

In what is believed to be a first for the peninsula, players from Inishowen Rugby Club, Moville Celtic FC and Malin GAA will go head-to-head across rugby, soccer and Gaelic football in a series of fun and competitive matches, showcasing the strong bonds that exist between local sporting organisations.

The tournament carries the message: ‘Three Sports. One Community. Stronger Together’, highlighting how sport can play an important role in supporting positive mental health and encouraging people to speak openly when they are struggling.

All proceeds from the event will go to Insight Inishowen, the voluntary-run counselling and wellbeing charity that provides vital mental health support services across the peninsula. Organisers say the evening is about much more than sporting rivalry, with the focus firmly on raising awareness of men's mental health and helping to ensure that support remains available locally for those who need it most.

Men's mental health remains an issue that affects families and communities throughout Ireland, and events such as the Carndonagh TriSport Tournament provide an opportunity to promote the message that it is okay to ask for help while also raising much-needed funds for frontline services.

Spectators are being encouraged to come along and support the three clubs and the important cause they are championing. Admission is €5 for adults and €2 for teenagers, while children under 12 will be admitted free of charge.

Organisers are hoping for a bumper turnout as three local sporting codes unite for one very important cause.
