Kilcar school to develop new floodlit astro turf

Planning permission has been sought for a new development at Scoil Chartha Naofa
A primary school in Kilcar has sought planning permission for a new floodlit astroturf.
Planning documents for the proposed development at Scoil Chartha Naofa were lodged with Donegal County Council this week.
The application was submitted by principal Gabriel Meehan on behalf of the school's board of management.
The development, at the school at Keenaghan, Kilcar, would see the construction of a new astroturf playing pitch with boundary fencing and netting.
The erection of six 12m high floodlights is also provided for, as well as all associated site works.
Scoil Chartha Naofa has 116 pupils on its roll this year.
The local authority is due to make a decision by February 28.
