Twin brothers from Kinlough have appeared in court in relation to an incident in Bundoran.
Danny Kerins and Sam Kerins were before Ballyshannon District Court in connection with the incident on April 20, 2025 at Main Street, Bundoran.
When the case was first mentioned before Judge Michael Connellan, the 19-year-old siblings, of Dartry View, Kinlough, indicated that they did not have a solicitor and would represent themselves.
Inspector Michael Doherty gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution and informed the court that there was the possibility of a further charge.
Judge Connellan recommended that the men avail of the services of a solicitor.
“These are serious charges,” Judge Connellan said.
Both men are charged with using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behavior in a public place with the intent to provoke a breach of the peace or being reckless about causing one. The charge is contrary to section 6 of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act, 1994.
The pair are also charged with being intoxicated in a public place, contrary to section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act, 1994.
Danny Kerins faces a further charge of refusing to give gardai his name and address.
Solicitor Mr Rory O’Brien subsequently represented the two men.
“Their disposition was that they thought that the matter could be dealt with,” Mr O’Brien said. “They are not in any way proud of their behaviour.”
The matter was adjourned until July 18.
