Letterkenny Youth Information Centre receives prestigious European Award
Recognition celebrates innovative airport event promoting European opportunities for young people
Letterkenny Youth Information Centre has received an Honourable Mention in the Eurodesk Awards 2026 and the Eurodesk Ireland National Award.
This recognises its innovative work in promoting European opportunities to young people through a unique airport information event organised during European Youth Week.
The initiative brought European mobility opportunities directly to young people and the wider community in an engaging and accessible setting, highlighting programmes such as Erasmus+, the European Solidarity Corps and other international learning and volunteering opportunities.
The Eurodesk Awards celebrate outstanding projects and campaigns delivered by youth information providers across Europe that successfully communicate European opportunities to young people. Receiving an Honourable Mention places Letterkenny Youth Information Centre among a select group of organisations recognised for excellence in youth information and outreach.
Speaking about the recognition, Youth Information Manager, Gareth Gibson, said: "We are delighted to receive this Honourable Mention from the Eurodesk Awards. It reflects the enthusiasm of our staff, volunteers and partners who continually look for new and creative ways to connect with young people.” Katarzyna Kurzeja, Youth Information Officer, added: “Hosting an information event in this format allowed us to reach people in an unexpected location and start conversations about the exciting opportunities available across Europe. We are proud that this local initiative has received recognition at the national and European level."
