People in west Donegal are said to be "concerned" over the state of their tap water.

Falcarragh-based councillor Michael McClafferty said he has been asked if the water is safe to consume, to which he replied to social media, urging caution before he hears back from Uisce Éireann.

"Folks, people are asking and have a good right to be concerned," he said. "I’m trying Irish water for an answer. "Is it safe to drink? I don’t know - I can’t say until I get an official response from Irish Water."
