Planning permission has been granted for new storage facilities, site works and infrastructure improvements at the popular Inishowen business.

Planning permission has been granted for a significant expansion at Boyce Paints in Moville, paving the way for the construction of new storage facilities at the company's premises on the Malin Road in Glencrow.

Donegal County Council has approved plans for the development, which will see the erection of three open-fronted storage units along with associated site works.

The approved development consists of two larger six-bay storage units and a smaller two-bay unit. All three structures will be constructed using mono-pitched steel frames, providing practical and durable storage space to support the popular business's operations.

As part of the project, a two-metre-high concrete retaining wall will also be built to facilitate alterations to ground levels across the site. The plans further include a range of site development works and external services associated with the new storage facilities.

The planning authority granted permission subject to eight conditions. Among these is a requirement that the new storage units be used solely for storage purposes ancillary to the existing commercial and industrial operations on the site. Any alternative use would require a separate grant of planning permission.

Restrictions have also been placed on construction activity, with on-site works limited to between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am to 3pm on Saturdays. No construction work is permitted on Sundays or public holidays.

The planning authority has also stipulated that no signage or advertising material may be erected on the site without prior written approval. Any future signage must avoid the use of plastic materials, internally illuminated box signs, or similar formats.

To address drainage concerns, the development must incorporate an ACO channel or similar drainage system at the entrance to prevent surface water from discharging onto the public road.

As part of the approval, Boyce Paints will also be required to make a financial contribution towards public infrastructure and facilities in the area. Under Donegal County Council's Development Contribution Scheme 2024-2030, the company will contribute €5,670 before development commences, unless an alternative phased payment arrangement is agreed with the local authority.
