At Letterkenny Circuit Court, Judge John Aylmer asked that a probation and welfare report be re-rare, to include an assessment on the accused man's suitability for community service
A Buncrana man has pleaded guilty to a serious assault at a takeaway.
Patrick McCarron tendered a guilty plea when he was arraigned at Letterkenny Circuit Court.
The 34-year-old from Cornmill Avenue, Buncrana was charged with assault causing harm, a charge contrary to the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.
The incident, on December 27, 2022, occurred at Pizza Max, Main Street, Buncrana. He pleaded guilty to assaulting Jason Gilloway and causing him harm.
McCarron spoke only to plead guilty before Judge John Aylmer.
Mr Peter Nolan BL, barrister for McCarron, instructed by solicitor Mr Frank Dorian, said his client comes to court with no previous convictions.
Mr Nolan told the court that McCarron was aware of the necessity for compensation in such cases. He said McCarron has a “very good work record” and that he intended to provide compensation to the victim.
Barrister for the State, Ms Fiona Crawford BL, said there was no objection to an adjournment.
Judge Aylmer asked that a probation and welfare report be re-rare, to include an assessment on McCarron’s suitability for community service.
The case was adjourned to January, 2026.
