Ye Vagabonds are coming home to Arainn Mhór for an exclusive Donegal gig this summer. The Irish folk music duo consisting of brothers Diarmuid and Brían Mac Gloinn have been described as "being at the fore of a new wave of Irish folk". They recently released their third album Nine Waves which features 11 tracks of both traditional and original songs and tunes. This new album follows in the wake of the duo’s standalone single I’m A Rover, which won them an RTE Radio One Folk Award for Best Traditional Folk Track and best traditional track at the BBC folk awards. Ye Vagabonds were also named Best Folk Group for the second time at the 2021 ceremony, where they hold the record for most awarded artists.
Scullion are back with their compelling album, ‘Time Has Made a Change in Me’, which will be shared officially on June 29th, 2022, but previewed in their performance in Árainn Mhór on Saturday the 18th. Formed in the mid-1970’s, Scullion are revered and feted as one of Ireland’s most innovative, original and brilliant live bands. Their upcoming new record emphasises the band's musical curiosity and like all of the band records, it breaks new ground.
This series of gigs is funded by the Department of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sports and Media #LocalLive and Plean Teanga Árainn Mhór.
